Franz Liszt

This is completely my-own-word biography.

1811, October 22nd, a piano genius was born in Hungary. His name was Franz Liszt, one of the pianist I admire. He was one of a kind who played the piano like a toy, when he was ten years old. He even got a kiss from Beethoven on the forehead. He earend money by traveling around the Europe, and he was only twelve at the moment.

When he was five to fifteen, he grew tall, handsome, talanted, and popular. He was a star.
There was two people who influenced him the most: Chopin and Paganini. When Liszt thought he was the best musician, he first saw Paganini.
Paganini was a vionlinist who amazed and astonished everyone with his extremely transcedental vionlin skills. At that time period, Liszt thought that he was the best musician on earth, and when he saw Paganini, he got into a great panic mode because he saw someone who was better him for the first time. From then, he practiced piano insaenly. He practiced piano more than 12hours a day and night, to become better than Paganini, the master-violinist.

In my opinion, practicing piano more than 12 hours a day is physically not good. That's like playing piano all day. Since a day is 24 hours, and sleeping 8 hours, makes the 16 hours of free time. Playing piano for 12 hours makes the free time only 2 hours, which is all for going to bathroom-eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner. So for all day, all he does is sleep, eat, poop, piano. I don't think I can do it, but I will try it one day.

So he made Etudes for Paganini. He made piano versions of Paganini's awe-stricking etudes and brought even greater effect than the original. People were fascinated. One of the famous etude is called "La campanella"(the picture above) and believe me, it's as hard as hell. It looks tidy, but you have to jump your hand furiously and consistenly and ACCURATELY. The sound has to be pleasant and not hurried.

So Liszt completed his mission: he had become better(...almost same level) than Paganini. But Liszt only had technique. For musician, technique is not all. So, Chopin completed Liszt as a perfect musician. Liszt saw his friend, Chopin's performance, his face was blank, then said

"He has something that I don't have"

SO, Now liszt realized that in order to touch someone's heart is not "Technique" but by "Music" itself.

I admire Liszt for his jealously who converted it to Passion and become better pianist. Yay-
